Waterways, Narrowboats & Mooring

Middlewich is renowned for its water network and lies at the confluence of three rivers: the Dane, Croco and Wheelock. Three canals also pass through the town: the Shropshire Union, Trent and Mersey, and the Wardle Canal. Narrowboats and associated tourism are of key importance to the local economy and it is a long historic connection which has influenced the character of the town and generated related events including the well known annual Folk & Boat Festival.

Narrowboat visitors will find access to all the necessary support that is part of the narrowboat lifestyle including renowned Chandlers, mooring, supplies and local services. Equally important: mooring at Middlewich provides an opportunity to visit our small town, explore our colourful Roman and Salt history and experience some of the finest pubs and restaurants in Cheshire East.
