Closure of Jacks Store in Middlewich

Thank you for getting in touch about the closure of the Middlewich Jack’s store.
We recognise this is difficult news and for those colleagues impacted, it is our priority to try and find alternative roles at Tesco for all who want to stay with us.
The decision to close a store is never one we take lightly, as we know how much they are valued by local communities and the colleagues who serve our customers so well.
In this instance, the closure is part of a plan to help the business re-invest in the areas that add the most value for our customers today and in the years ahead.
We will be consulting with the union Usdaw, to develop a plan to give affected colleagues the support they need however our priority is now to explain to our colleagues what the announcement means for them and their options. Ahead of the closure we will begin a consultation process with colleagues, where they will be provided with one-to-one support.
The closure is part of a wider plan to close or convert all of our Jack’s stores. Jack’s was launched in 2018 to celebrate our centenary and founder, Jack Cohen and to help the business strengthen the value we offer to customers. We have learned a tremendous amount from Jack’s and this has helped Tesco become more competitive, more efficient and strengthened the value we offer to customers. The Jack’s brand will live on, with Jack’s-branded products available to independent convenience stores supplied by Booker
Following closure, Tesco will continue to serve customers through our other local stores and our dotcom service.
