Contract: 6 Months fixed term or secondment – with the potential to become a permanent role

Hours of work: 37 hours per week Monday to Friday

Work base: Environmental Hub, Cledford Lane, Middlewich

Grade 4: £18,933 – £19,698 PA

We are currently looking to recruit a Grounds / Street Cleansing Operative to work closely with Middlewich Town Council as a Town Ranger. This is a new initiative for the town and the opportunity to really make a difference. The role will involve completing a range of grounds maintenance, cleansing activities and building maintenance across Middlewich including grass mowing, planting enhancements, weed control as well as litter picking, emptying litter and dog bins, removal of fly tipped waste and some maintenance of public realm furniture and structures to ensure the town is a clean, safe and an attractive place to live.

In order to apply for the role applicants should have a good knowledge of the town and experience of suitable practical maintenance, i.e. painting and general repairs, cleansing methods and grounds maintenance operations.

You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and exert physical effort for the majority of the working day in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.

You will be able to interact and communicate effectively with members of the public in order to portray a professional image of our company and the Town Council and deliver a quality service.

Literacy and numeracy skills are essential along with the ability to use technology particularly a smart phone in order to take photographs, record tasks and post on social media when requested.

Applicants must hold a current driving licence and be willing to use machinery such as pedestrian and ride-on mowers, hedge-cutters and strimmers.

You will be required to work in line with the Employee Code of Conduct and work as part of a team. The need to work in a safe manner is paramount and therefore an understanding of relevant safe working practices is required.
