St Michaels Way Update

An update has been received from Cheshire East Highways, which is below.

The Town Council has responded to the advice received and is waiting on a response. The Council has expressed that it is not satisfactory that the investigation complexities into the flooding is delaying further onsite work until the new year.

The crossing over the A54 is dangerous due to volume of traffic – especially for the young and elderly who can’t cross as quickly.

The build up of water which was extremely high this morning is also causing discoloration to the tap water of residents who live in this area.

Good afternoon

Unfortunately due to further complexities surrounding the investigation into the subway flooding on St Michaels Way we will be delaying any further on-site work until the new year.

In the interim, we will draw off the existing water in the subway and ensure it is closed appropriately to pedestrians. A signed diversion will also be put in place to ensure the safe passage of pedestrians across St Michaels Way and this will be regularly checked and monitored until we can continue investigations.

If you foresee any issues with us diverting pedestrians back to the gyratory please let me know and we can aim to accommodate any further issues this may present to pedestrians.

We are also in the process of setting up a web page which will provide the latest updates on this investigation.

Apologies for any inconvenience and as always, your patience is very much appreciated.

Kind regards,

Senior Highways Officer | Cheshire East Highways
