Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – Middlewich Funding Opportunity

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations – Middlewich Funding Opportunity for Street Party Organisers

On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marks 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, a series of events and initiatives will take place throughout the year which will culminate in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June. This special bank holiday will provide an opportunity for our Middlewich community and people throughout the United Kingdom to come together to celebrate this historic milestone.

Middlewich Town Council and Middlewich Vision will be organising an official street party (details to be confirmed) and we also want to support local groups who are planning their own street party to celebrate this momentous occasion.

We have 20 x £100 funding pots which local groups can apply for to support the organisation/delivery of their own local Middlewich street party.

SOME USEFUL NOTES FOR STREET PARTY ORGANISERS

  • Organisers. If you have never organised a street party before take a look at this helpful webpage which contains some good tips for creating a successful party: https://www.streetparty.org.uk/
  • Official resources, including the official Platinum Jubilee logo, for use on merchandise or publicity etc can be found here: https://www.royal.uk/resources-platinum-jubilee
  • Consider sharing bunting, tableware etc with a neighbouring street to reduce any costs. Pick a street who is hosting their party on a different day/time and see if you can pool any resources
  • Order and Buy early! Merchandise will be in demand particularly in the weeks leading up to the event. If you need Jubilee themed merchandise, buy it in early so that you do not lose out.
  • Cheshire East Council Funding: CEC are to confirm whether any additional funds will be available to support street parties in Cheshire East. We are awaiting details.
  • Cheshire East Council Road Closures and Event Permissions. CEC are to confirm their arrangements for groups who want to run an event/impliment a road closure. Currently there are strict regulations relating to road closures/events on public land/highways and applicants are normally charged a fee. We are awaiting details about the arrangements for the Jubilee Celebrations and establishing whether the normal process will be simplified/costs wavered for street parties during this time period.

Middlewich Summer Programme of Free Activities for children and young people is launched

Middlewich Town Council and Middlewich Vision are pleased to announce the launch of the Summer Programme for children and young people. Pop over to our Childrens and Teenagers section of our website to see the full details. https://middlewich.org.uk/children-and-teenagers/

Subject to funding and supplier availability, we will seek to add activities over the coming weeks.

Huge thanks must go to Middlewich & District Foodbank team for working with us on the programme. This Summer we have teamed up with Middlewich & District Foodbank to coordinate a new ‘Picnic Pack’ campaign in the Summer holidays. This campaign will be combined with most of our free activities in August. The main purpose of the Picnic Pack service is to allow those families who are struggling during the current circumstances to enjoy activities and refreshments without worry. Check each event for details. We would like to thank the team and volunteers at Middlewich & District Foodbank for their amazing help to get this up and running.

Holiday Activity Fund – Cheshire East area

Applications are now open to enrol children and young people in a free holiday activity over the summer.

Free places are now available for children and young people eligible for free school meals. This opportunity is provided as part of the government’s expanded Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme being delivered across Cheshire East.

The scheme provides enjoyable activities and nutritious meals for primary and secondary school aged children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

Children will be able to access hundreds of free sessions throughout the summer holidays, including specific provisions available for children with SEND or additional needs. The sessions will include a variety of fun activities, including sports, music, arts and other exciting opportunities to learn and develop skills, alongside a nutritious meal each day.

To view the activities and find out how to book a place, visit www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/FIS and clicking on the ‘things to do’ section or by searching ‘family information service events’.  Any families who don’t have access to the internet are advised to contact a professional they are working with who can enrol on their behalf.
